Live in care has become for many people the perfect alternative to moving into residential care. We can provide a live in carer for you so that you can be supported just the way you require. They will be supervised by your local care coordinator.
We will carry out regular reviews of the care being delivered; to ensure your satisfaction with the service.
Your arrangement with us as a live in care provider be in the form of a ‘Full Management Service’.
If you want an ‘Introductory Care Service’, with self-employed live in carers, you could choose Select Carers: 24/7 Live in Care. This service may be cheaper than what Sunshine Care offers with its high quality service.

What is Live in Care?
We can provide a live in care worker for you, living with you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so that you can be supported just in the way you require.
This 24 hour live in support enables individuals and couples to stay in the comfort of their own home, sustaining their routineness of life, preserving independence whilst being supported in every way required.
Housework, shopping, meal preparation, personal care and anything else that is required; for each person this will be different and we are flexible in the way we work with you.
Friendly Home Visit
After the initial contact, we will visit you in your own home or in hospital, or elsewhere if needed, to asses your needs. One of our head office team will come to you at your convenience, and with you make a list of your requirements.
It will be good to see you in your own home, so that we can help to make you as comfortable as possible during your care. We can view with you your medication list, any disabilities, what you like to eat, where the carer will stay etc. You might have pets which need caring for and that is fine too.
Designing a Care Plan
We will design a care plan and leave you with a special folder which maps out the care plan, available for your chosen carer to use whist working with you. Your comfort and wellbeing is our priority. We will also calculate costs with you and tailor make your package accordingly. Rest assured that we will work with you at your level, listening to any family members you would like involved in this planning.
Having heard your requirements we will send you a number of carers’ profiles so that you can select the perfect carer for you. The package can be quickly arranged and your live in care package can be in place within a few days; or at the time that suit you.
We supply a trained professional, nurse led, carer to live with you in your own home. Your live in carer will be available to support you, making sure that all your needs are met, and that you are safe, secure and looked after in just the way you wish for your well-being.
We will consult with you throughout your care service, listening to your needs as they develop, and making adjustments where necessary.

Within Sunshine Care much work is done to ensure that a person has the right level of live in care that they deserve and need. This will vary from person to person; we always respect the individual’s needs.

Urgent Care at Home
Urgent live in care services are available at home when you need it most. We aim to be with you as soon as we can following your initial enquiry. Sometimes live in care is needed urgently, not just to cover a holiday period, but also when there is sickness, stress, or some other urgent situation.
In these urgent situations we will do everything in our power to ensure that one of our expert team comes out to your home, or to wherever you are, to assess your needs to ensure that there is a swift transition into the live in care package that you need for your comfort, with minimal disruption.

We build your care with you so that you are in control, with all your needs considered. We work in a person centred way so that each and every person is treated as the unique person that they are.
Sunshine Care acts as a “provider of care” and is directly responsible for managing the live in care service, as well as being accountable for the training, supervising and development of your live in carers. Companies that are “providers of care” are regulated by the *Care Quality Commission.
With our full management model you are paying for an all-inclusive service and this can be ideal for families who would prefer to outsource the day to day management of the live-in care service.
Managed live in care companies are responsible for paying their staff, salaries, PAYE, NI and holiday pay. The key benefit of the full management model is that the client is not employing the carer directly; all responsibilities lie with the provider of the care service, i.e. Sunshine Care, not the client.
Regular Client Reviews will be held in consultation with the family and other health professionals. Sunshine Care staff are supervised each month and have annual appraisals on their performance. If the carer does not complete their update training they will not be assigned to a care package; as this could endanger the health and safety of the client.
Introduction agencies are agencies that introduce carers to clients. Rather than acting as the provider of care, a live-in care introductory company will guide you through the process of setting up your live-in care service and offer the required support to help you manage your live in care service. They will help you choose a suitable carer. They will also conduct reference checks, checking your chosen carer has the right to work in the UK. They will often ensure that there is a recent DBS criminal record check. Some will also ensure that the carer’s training is up to date. You would normally pay the self-employed carer directly and often pay a 20% to 25% introductory fee each week that the service runs. They will also charge you VAT on the agency introduction fee.
The self-employed carers will work on a self-employed basis and be responsible for their own tax and National Insurance liability. Carers are free to be registered with a number of agencies, and work for a number of different clients. The client or client’s family will instruct and supervise the carer. The introduction agency will advise and support with the setting up of the service. They will usually take responsibility to provide a replacement carer if your normal carer becomes unwell or when they take a holiday. The family or individual receiving care has a legal contract with the live in carer; and will administer the live in care services.
Introductory agencies are not registered with the Care Quality Commission, CQC, because they are not the provider of care. The self-employed carer is the provider of the live in care service.
